Starting point

MENNEKES makes industrial plugs and sockets. For Light + Building 2026, its Industry business unit wanted to present its own digital offering for end customers for the first time.

The result is M.ONE. Sockets and distribution units measure energy, residual current and temperature. The data is sent over the mobile network to the MENNEKES Industrial Cloud. Companies see their consumption there, receive alarms and can locate mobile distribution units.

Hardware and series production

Every device in the M.ONE Core line contains hardware from NXTGN. NXTGN Technologies developed the hardware design and all hardware-side code, including the radio module with eSIM and the antennas.

Industrialisation and series production followed the pre-series. NXTGN Technologies manufactures the modules together with a manufacturing service provider.

Data hub in the Industrial Cloud

NXTGN Solutions developed the data hub. It receives the device data and passes it on to the other parts of the Industrial Cloud. The data hub is built on .NET and NATS in several layers.

At MENNEKES, the Industrial Cloud brings all components together, including connectivity and the app. Key parts of it come from NXTGN.

Approval and security

NXTGN supported and carried out the EMC tests and the approval under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), including the cybersecurity requirements of EN 18031. We took the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act into account during development.

An additional module for AMAXX

The plan was initially a single-module unit for DIN rails. During the project we proposed an additional module that fits directly into the housing of the AMAXX socket combination. MENNEKES took up the proposal, and NXTGN developed the module.

Result

MENNEKES presented M.ONE at Light + Building in Frankfurt in March 2026. About one and a half years passed from project start to the trade fair.

The M.ONE Core line comprises around 20 products, including wall sockets, AMAXX variants, EverGUM and EverBOX, an extension for retrofitting existing distribution units and sensor boxes. MENNEKES received the Designplus Award by Light + Building 2026 for M.ONE.

NXTGN continues to look after M.ONE with updates and support.
